Renee Ferrufino is President and CEO of The Women's Foundation of Colorado (WFCO). She made history in January 2025 as the first Latina to lead the organization. As WFCO's vice president of development, she tripled annual contributions, designed the Women & Girls of Color Fund — which has granted over $4 million to nonprofits statewide since 2021 — and pioneered the nation's first women's impact investing giving circle providing low-interest loans to women entrepreneurs.

Her leadership has earned recognition including “Woman of Distinction” from Girl Scouts of Colorado, “Outstanding Women in Business” from the Denver Business Journal, and “Top 25 Most Powerful Women in Business” from the Colorado Women's Chamber of Commerce. This year the League of Women Voters of Larimer County honors three women whose leadership and service advance equality and strengthen our community. Please join us in celebrating this year's recipients.

Pat Griego

Pat Griego is recognized for her years of service in the community in a variety of roles with several groups and organizations. Her main focus is educating the Hispanic community on voting and their rights as citizens and non-citizens.

Arpi Miller

Arpi Miller is recognized as a founding member of ISAAC (Interfaith Solidarity and Accompaniment Coalition) of Northern Colorado, helping hundreds of local community members with their immigration legal process. She advances civic engagement by connecting marginalized community members to resources, rights, and their own power.

Lynn Young

Lynn Young is recognized for her work with the League of Women Voters in Larimer County, Estes Park, and at the state level — serving as spokesperson, League trainer helping other local Leagues start up, and board member at both the local and state level. She has provided leadership in voter education, advocacy around public policy, and many other projects.

In 1971, Representative Bella Abzug (D-NY) successfully introduced a bill designating August 26 of each year as Women's Equality Day. The bill states that Women's Equality Day is a symbol of women's continued fight for equal rights, and that the United States commends and supports them. It also authorized and requested the President to issue an annual proclamation commemorating woman suffrage and the 1970 Strike for Equality.
