County Ballot Issue 1B Passes!

A Larimer County ballot measure supported by the League of Women Voters of Larimer County has passed! The measure asked voters for a .25% sales tax increase, the equivalent of 25 cents on every $100 spent. The tax does not apply to food, gas, diapers, or prescription drugs. The proceeds will help families pay for child care, boost pay for child care workers. You can find our advocacy letter here.

‘Twas 23 nights before Christmas, when all through the League, not a single member dared miss, the Kindred Spirits Happy Hour intrigue. Well, that is not exactly how the poem goes, but it got you in the holiday spirit, didn’t it?

Come one, come all!  Ring in December by putting on your Santa cap and donning your reindeer antlers to mix and mingle with Leaguers and fellow kindred spirits for our third Solidarity Happy Hour.  The agenda is wide open. Bring a friend!  Register ahead through the League calendar so we can save enough seats and get ready to meet some new faces and say "hi" to old friends.

Voter Girl Event a Huge Success!

Fifty-four Girl Scouts attended our annual Voter Girl Project event this past Saturday, November 8th  at Front Range Community College.  The Girl Scouts earned badges in citizenship in 4 workshops -  Daisies (K-1st), Brownies (2nd-3rd), Juniors (4th-5th), and Cadettes (6th, 7th ,8th). Thirty-eight troop leaders and parents stayed for a presentation on the beginnings of the voter suffrage movement and the League of Women Voters.

None of this was possible without the help of 27 wonderful  volunteers.  They say it takes a village. This was our village:
