Discussion: Should LWVLC Take a Stances on Any Local Ballot Issues?

About this event

This is a meeting to allow interested parties to discuss local ballot issues and the LWV positions that might apply to them. Based on established LWV positions, the LWVLC has already taken a support stance on the City of Loveland's proposed 1% sales tax increase on non-food items. In this meeting, we will be determining whether League positions might suggest or compel support or oppose stances on other local ballot issues that will appear on Larimer County ballots.

There is a countywide question on raising revenue for transportation infrastructure maintenance and improvements, and there are a number of municipal-level questions for Fort Collins, Loveland, and Wellington, as well as school finance issues for the Poudre, Thompson, and St. Vrain school districts.

If the group decides to recommend taking a stance on any issue, we will then hammer out a process by which the stance would be approved.

If you'd like to just listen to the discussion, you are most welcome.
If you'd like to propose taking a stance on any local issues, please come prepared to outline how existing positions justify the stance.
