Great Decisions To Discuss Global Health

Join us for a brown bag lunch and Great Decisions discussion on Monday, June 4 from 11:30 to 1:30 at Plymouth Congregational Church (916 W Prospect Rd, Fort Collins)
Guest are welcome.

In this Great Decisions discussion, the topic will be: Global Health: Progress and Challenges

A number of key factors coincided to drive the historic health gains that have been made over the last few decades. Together, they brought about what some have called a “golden age” for global health. Better understanding of health and disease, development of new technologies and interventions, and political and societal support have implemented solutions on a grand scale. In the future, governments, and members of society throughout the world will be critical in advocating for and implementing effective health policy and interventions at the community, national and international levels if we are to continue making health gains globally.

Our guest facilitator for this meeting will be Melisa Esposti, Director of Global Health Grants at Project C.U.R.E., with international headquarters in Centennial, Colorado. It is the largest provider of donated medical supplies and equipment to developing countries around the world with over 40 million dollars of supplies sent to these countries within the last year.

Please note that the topic of June Great Decisions topic of global heath ties in with June Informed Citizen Book Club selection, An American Sickness: How Health Care Became Big Business & How We Can Take It Back by Elizabeth Rosenthal.

For over 60 years, Great Decisions has given an inspiring example of the role citizens can play in discovering, discussing, and deciding how to meet some of the world’s greatest challenges, and for 15 years, the League of Women Voters of Larimer County has been a Great Decisions participant.
